A Call to Prayer for Our Nation

Greetings,

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan established the first Thursday of May as the National Day of Prayer—a time for our nation to unite in seeking God’s guidance and wisdom for our leaders and our country.

In Luke 11:2b–4, Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. He responded with what we now know as the Lord’s Prayer: “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”

This prayer reminds us to honor God, seek His will, trust Him for our needs, pursue forgiveness, and ask for His guidance in our daily lives. It has been prayed by believers throughout history—in times of peace and in times of hardship—because it expresses the heart of a life dependent on God.

Simply put, when families pray together, they grow stronger—and when a nation prays together, it grows in unity and purpose.

You are warmly invited to join us for a time of prayer on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at noon. We will gather at the flagpole at the Groveland Fire Station, next to Mary Laveroni Community Park, for a 30-minute time of prayer.

You are also invited to worship with us on Sundays. At Gateway Community Church, we gather at 10:00 a.m., and you are always welcome.
